Learn the WinOLS workflow used by professional calibrators at VIEZU Technologies. Across three practical days, work from gasoline ECU structures through fuel, ignition and boost strategies to a clearly documented calibration project.
No previous WinOLS experience is required. Understanding airflow, ignition timing, lambda, load and turbo boost will help you make the most of the course.
What you will learn
Learn through practical ECU-file exercises, supported by explanations of what each map controls, how related maps interact and how to assess the result.
Day-by-day course programme
Day 1: WinOLS fundamentals and practical gasoline calibration
- Navigate WinOLS, understand project organisation and become familiar with the key software functions.
- Import ECU files and work with an existing mappack to explore gasoline calibration tables through practical exercises.
- Understand engine load, torque management, lambda, ignition timing and turbocharger boost control.
- Learn to interpret map axes, values and conversion factors, and understand how related calibration functions interact.
- Make guided calibration modifications using an existing mappack, building confidence with the software.
Day 2: Map identification, table creation and gasoline tuning strategies
- Learn to identify calibration maps directly from raw ECU data using WinOLS 2D and 3D views.
- Identify map dimensions, data formats, axes and conversion factors to build functional calibration tables.
- Create, organise and develop custom WinOLS mappacks using maps identified during practical exercises.
- Explore fuelling, power enrichment, ignition advance, knock control and turbocharger calibration strategies in greater detail.
- Apply map identification and calibration techniques to develop and refine gasoline performance modifications.
Day 3: Super Mappacks, database management and calibration development
- Understand WinOLS Super Mappacks and how they support map identification across compatible ECU software versions.
- Learn to organise and manage the WinOLS database, including locating and reusing existing calibration projects.
- Practise duplicating existing tuned projects and transferring suitable modifications to ECU files with similar calibrations.
- Compare original and modified ECU files, checking map structures, calibration differences and compatibility.
- Complete a practical gasoline calibration project, consolidating map identification, mappack management and professional file development techniques.
ECU platforms and practical files
The reference course covers modern naturally aspirated and turbocharged gasoline ECU platforms; Bosch MED17/MG1 and Continental SIMOS are relevant examples rather than a confirmed March training-file list.
Who should attend?
No previous WinOLS experience is required. Understanding airflow, ignition timing, lambda, load and turbo boost will help you make the most of the course.
What you will take away
- A clearer, repeatable method for analysing ECU calibration files.
- Practical experience of the software and the engine strategies it controls.
- Understanding of the checks needed before a file is used on a customer vehicle.
- Better judgement when developing calibration changes independently.
EVC-Certified training
This course is part of the EVC-Certified WinOLS training offering from VIEZU Technical Academy. Official EVC WinOLS Certification and a VIEZU Technical Academy training certificate are issued upon successful course completion.
What to bring
Bring a laptop with a genuine, current full version of EVC WinOLS installed and working. The demonstration version does not provide all the functions required for the practical exercises.
Course details
- Dates: 15-17 March 2027
- Duration: 3 days
- Venue: VIEZU USA, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
- Software: EVC WinOLS
- Applications: Gasoline ECU tuning
- Level: Foundation / beginner
The day-by-day programme describes the planned teaching sequence and may be adapted to the group. ECU families described as examples are subject to suitable files, drivers and trainer confirmation.
Book your place and develop the calibration skills you can put to work in your own workshop.
