EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning Online Course
Learn professional gasoline ECU tuning with EVC WinOLS
Develop the skills to work with gasoline ECU calibration data using EVC WinOLS with this complete online training course from VIEZU Technical Academy (VTA).
The EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning Online Course brings together the complete six-stage gasoline training programme in one boxset. You get access to all ten VTA training modules, including the extended four-part Module 4 and two-part Module 6.
Designed as a structured learning path, each stage builds on the knowledge and practical skills developed in the previous module. You will start by setting up and configuring WinOLS correctly, before progressing through project creation, tuning files, map packs, data identification and ultimately modifying ECU calibration data to develop a Stage 1 gasoline tune.
Rather than purchasing each module separately, this boxset gives you the complete course at a discounted package price.
The complete course includes:
- VTA1031: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 1 of 6
- VTA1032: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 2 of 6
- VTA1033: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 3 of 6
- VTA1034: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 4 of 6a
- VTA1035: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 4 of 6b
- VTA1036: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 4 of 6c
- VTA1037: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 4 of 6d
- VTA1038: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 5 of 6
- VTA1039: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 6 of 6a
- VTA1040: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 6 of 6b
Module 4 is divided into four parts due to the depth and volume of the training, while Module 6 is divided into two parts. Together, the ten individual VTA modules form one complete six-stage gasoline tuning programme.
What you will learn
Module 1: Set up and configure EVC WinOLS
VTA1031: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 1 of 6
Your training starts by establishing the right foundations for working with EVC WinOLS 5.
Learn how to download and install WinOLS, configure the software and organise the working environment for professional file writing.
The module covers software preferences, recommended settings, optimising views and layouts, and important guidance on how to use WinOLS effectively.
A genuine original BMW ECU file is used as the training example. The principles and WinOLS techniques taught can then be transferred to a much wider range of gasoline ECU tuning applications.
Module 2: Create and manage WinOLS projects
VTA1032: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 2 of 6
With WinOLS correctly configured, the next stage introduces the project workflow used to manage ECU files.
Learn how to start and manage a new project in WinOLS and begin working with the tuning files and maps used to calibrate gasoline ECUs.
The course continues using an original BMW ECU file, allowing you to follow the process using genuine calibration data while developing your familiarity with the WinOLS working environment.
Module 3: Develop your WinOLS project workflow
VTA1033: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 3 of 6
Module 3 takes your project knowledge further and develops the processes involved in starting, opening and managing WinOLS projects.
You will continue building your understanding of gasoline ECU tuning files and maps, alongside the configuration and functions used within WinOLS.
At this point, the course begins moving you from simply navigating the software towards understanding how WinOLS is actually used as a professional calibration development environment.
Module 4: Map packs, ECU data and map identification
VTA1034, VTA1035, VTA1036 and VTA1037: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 4 of 6, Parts A-D
Module 4 is the largest section of the course and marks a significant step forward in your WinOLS knowledge.
The subject is divided across four individual VTA modules, providing approximately five hours of learning including the associated quizzes.
Across Parts A-D, you will work more deeply with ECU data and develop your understanding of:
- tuning file and map formats
- map packs
- importing and working with map packs
- recognising ECU data
- identifying and labelling data
- understanding data size
- organising useful calibration information
- working with ECU profiles and related WinOLS functions
This is an important stage in developing the ability to look at ECU calibration data and turn it into structured, useful information for tuning.
An original ECU file is supplied for practical work, allowing you to follow the trainer inside WinOLS and practise the techniques yourself.

Module 5: Understand map relationships and tuning potential
VTA1038: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 5 of 6
Once you can identify and organise the calibration data, Module 5 starts connecting that information to tuning strategy.
You will learn how to understand relationships between different map types and investigate the limitations within the standard ECU calibration.
The training also explores how the original calibration can contain clues to the potential for increased power, including identifying useful reference points between maps and establishing appropriate changes when developing new tuned values.
This gives you a much stronger understanding of why calibration values are changed, rather than simply learning which numbers to alter.
Module 6: Modify the calibration and develop a Stage 1 tune
VTA1039 and VTA1040: EVC WinOLS Gasoline Tuning – Module 6 of 6, Parts A and B
The final stage brings the knowledge developed throughout the course together and puts it into practice.
Split across two parts, Module 6 teaches you how to start modifying calibration data within WinOLS and explores different methods for making controlled changes to ECU maps.
You will learn about:
- modifying ECU data in WinOLS
- different methods of modifying map data
- duplicating changes across similar maps
- datalogging during tuning development
- testing and validating changes
- saving modified files as new versions
- maintaining a structured development process
- completing a Stage 1 gasoline tune
- exporting the completed file from WinOLS
The importance of datalogging and testing is also covered, helping you understand that professional calibration development involves measuring and validating the effect of your changes as the file develops.
By the end of Module 6, you will have followed the process from an original ECU file through to a completed Stage 1 calibration and file export.

Learn at your own pace
This is a fully online VIEZU Technical Academy training course, giving you the flexibility to develop your WinOLS skills around your existing work and commitments.
You receive lifetime access to the included training modules. Rewatch a lesson, pause while you practise inside WinOLS or return to an earlier subject when you encounter it again during your own calibration work.
Original ECU files are also supplied with relevant modules so you can work alongside the trainer and practise the processes being demonstrated.
For anyone working towards greater independence in ECU file writing, being able to revisit this technical material becomes increasingly useful as your practical experience grows.
EVC WinOLS tuning software
This course teaches gasoline ECU calibration using EVC WinOLS 5, a professional calibration development platform used by tuners and file writers around the world.
WinOLS gives the tuner extensive control over ECU calibration data. That flexibility means the user needs to understand how to identify, organise, interpret and modify the raw data contained within an ECU file.
Developing those skills is at the heart of this course.
You can complete the training without owning WinOLS, although we strongly recommend having the software installed on your own computer while you learn. This allows you to follow the trainer directly, practise each process using the supplied files and build confidence working within WinOLS yourself.
