EVC-Certified WinOLS Gasoline ECU Tuning Course in Sydney

Learn professional ECU calibration workflows from VIEZU Technologies

WinOLS is used by professional calibration engineers around the world.

Knowing how to use the software is only part of the process. You also need to understand how the ECU works, how its calibration maps interact and how to make structured calibration changes.

The EVC-Certified Gasoline ECU Tuning Course in Sydney, Australia teaches you the workflows used by the calibration team at VIEZU Technologies.

The three-day course is delivered by Simon White, Technical Director of VIEZU Technologies and an EVC-Certified WinOLS Trainer.

You will work with ECU files and use WinOLS to develop your understanding of gasoline ECU calibration.

The course is delivered in a small group. This gives you time to ask questions, discuss the work and get practical guidance from your trainer.

Who this course is for

This course is suitable for:

  • professional tuners moving to WinOLS from another tuning platform
  • ECU file developers who want to improve their calibration knowledge
  • workshop owners who want to bring ECU calibration in-house
  • existing WinOLS users who want to develop a more structured workflow
  • people who want to develop a professional foundation in gasoline ECU calibration

You do not need previous WinOLS experience.

You should, however, understand basic tuning variables such as airflow, load, ignition timing, lambda, knock and turbo boost.

If you are unsure whether the course is suitable for you, contact VIEZU Technical Academy before booking.

What you will learn

The course takes you through the main stages of a professional gasoline ECU calibration workflow.

Day 1: Understand the ECU and build your WinOLS workflow

You will learn how modern gasoline ECUs are structured and how they calculate engine operation.

You will then apply this knowledge in WinOLS.

You will learn about:

  • gasoline ECU logic across major OEM platforms
  • ECU structures and map organisation
  • key gasoline map groups
  • WinOLS patterns and search techniques
  • existing calibration files
  • structured WinOLS projects

By the end of day one, you will be able to:

  • understand how gasoline ECUs calculate engine operation
  • identify core maps in naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines
  • navigate WinOLS
  • build structured WinOLS projects

Day 2: Develop gasoline ECU calibrations

You will learn how key calibration systems work together.

This includes fuel, ignition timing, knock control and boost strategies.

You will learn about:

  • power enrichment strategies
  • fuelling adjustments
  • octane-based ignition strategies
  • knock control logic
  • turbocharger calibration fundamentals
  • practical tuning techniques in WinOLS

By the end of day two, you will be able to:

  • understand how key gasoline calibration systems interact
  • optimise ignition timing safely
  • develop turbocharged gasoline calibrations using a structured process
  • apply professional tuning techniques in WinOLS

Day 3: Complete professional calibration projects

On the final day, you will bring the previous two days together.

You will work through the calibration process from initial assessment to final project review.

You will learn about:

  • complete calibration workflows
  • naturally aspirated and turbocharged gasoline projects
  • pre-calibration validation
  • final project review
  • documentation
  • version management
  • professional project organisation

By the end of day three, you will be able to:

  • build complete gasoline calibration projects in WinOLS
  • produce structured and documented projects
  • apply a repeatable workflow to future projects
  • continue developing your own calibration skills

What you will take away

After the course, you will have developed your understanding of:

  • WinOLS and its core functionality
  • gasoline ECU calibration maps
  • OEM calibration strategies
  • professional WinOLS project organisation
  • gasoline fuelling and ignition strategies
  • knock control
  • turbocharger calibration
  • structured ECU calibration workflows

You will also have practical experience of applying these processes in WinOLS.

Is this course right for you?

Before booking, consider whether you:

  • understand airflow, load, ignition timing, lambda, knock and turbo boost
  • have an understanding of gasoline engine operation
  • work with Bosch ME, MED, SIMOS, MG1, MD1, Delphi, Denso or similar ECUs
  • currently use another tuning platform and want to learn WinOLS
  • already use WinOLS but want to improve your workflow

If you can answer yes to these questions, this course may be suitable for your current level of knowledge.

If you cannot, contact us before booking. We can discuss your experience and help you identify the right starting point.

What happens during the course?

The course is practical.

You will not only watch demonstrations. You will work through the calibration process and use WinOLS as you learn.

You will start by understanding the ECU.

You will then learn how to identify and interpret its calibration maps.

Next, you will look at how different calibration strategies interact.

On the final day, you will bring these skills together in complete calibration projects.

You will have opportunities to ask questions throughout the three days.

The small-group format also means you can discuss your own experience and get guidance from your trainer.
