Simon White takes you through the complete process of unlocking a Bosch MD1 ECU, showing exactly how the new module is used in a real workshop environment.

From opening the ECU and setting up the BDM frame, Simon covers identifying and removing the correct ferrite/resistor, making the required bench and bridge pin connections, then carrying out the ID, backup and unlock procedure using the Alientech Suite software.

And importantly, the video doesn’t stop once the ECU is unlocked.

Simon also demonstrates how to safely refit the ferrite afterwards and use a multimeter to confirm continuity before the ECU is refitted to the vehicle.

The Alientech Unlock Module opens up tuning access to a significant range of Bosch MD1 and MG1 ECUs that were previously locked, giving professional tuners the opportunity to take on vehicles and jobs they may previously have had to turn away.
