This Live, online training will be delivered by Simon White, founder of VIEZU Technologies and lead trainer at the VIEZU Technical Academy.
With extensive experience in professional ECU calibration and tuner education, Simon has trained thousands of tuners worldwide and brings a structured, real-world approach to diesel tuning using platforms such as StageX.
Delivering a complete, real-world diesel tuning workflow using the StageX platform, this live online training focuses on the Delphi CRD3 ECU, commonly found in Mercedes Benz vehicles.
Designed for professional tuners at beginner to intermediate level, this session goes beyond basic map editing and focuses on understanding and applying the core ECU strategies that govern modern diesel engines.
Participants will learn how to approach a calibration properly — starting with stock file analysis, understanding how the ECU controls torque and fuel delivery, and progressing into a structured, step-by-step Stage 1 tuning process.
What makes this training different
This is not a “change these maps by X%” session.
Instead, the training focuses on:
- Understanding why maps exist and how they interact
- Interpreting calibration data professionally inside StageX
- Working with the Delphi CRD3 ECU torque-based control model
- Building a tune that is consistent, safe, and repeatable
- Avoiding common mistakes that lead to poor drivability or faults
What you will learn
- How to analyse a stock Delphi CRD3 ECU file in StageX
- How to interpret maps (axes, units, shape, and function)
- How torque request and torque limiters control the engine
- How fuel quantity, air mass, and smoke limitation interact
- How boost strategy supports combustion and performance
- How rail pressure and injection timing influence results
- How to build a complete Stage 1 calibration step by step
- How to review and validate a tuned file professionally
Live tuning demonstration
You will follow the full process of building a Stage 1 tune live, including:
- Defining a safe and realistic tuning target
- Adjusting driver demand and torque request
- Calibrating torque limiters correctly
- Increasing fuel delivery in a controlled way
- Managing smoke and lambda strategy
- Adjusting boost and air path safely
- Reviewing rail pressure and timing
- Comparing and validating the final file
After the training, participants will receive:
- Original ECU file
- Completed tuned file
- Access to a recording of the session
