Heavy Commercial Diesel ECU Tuning with WinOLS in Sydney
Develop your WinOLS skills for trucks, tractors and heavy equipment
WinOLS is used by professional ECU calibration engineers around the world. Working effectively with the software requires more than knowing where to find maps. You also need to understand ECU structures, calibration strategies and the systems used in heavy-duty applications.
VIEZU Technologies and VIEZU Technical Academy are delivering in-person heavy commercial diesel ECU tuning training in Sydney, Australia.
The lead trainer is Simon White, Managing Director of VIEZU Technologies.
This intensive three-day course is designed for people with existing WinOLS experience who want to develop their skills in heavy truck, tractor, agricultural and construction equipment ECU calibration.
The course covers intermediate to advanced calibration techniques across a range of heavy commercial ECU platforms and high-duty-cycle applications.
Training is delivered in a small group. This gives you time to ask questions, discuss specific applications and get practical guidance throughout the course.
You can also contact Simon White before the course if there are specific engines or ECU types you would like to cover during the practical sessions.
Your three-day learning journey
Day 1: Bosch EDC17CV41 and Delphi DCMI ETC3
The first day focuses on two heavy commercial ECU platforms and the systems used to manage diagnostics, emissions and torque control.
You will learn how to identify relevant strategies and organise your WinOLS projects for commercial applications.
You will learn about:
- Bosch EDC17CV41 and Delphi DCMI ETC3 ECU platforms
- manual Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) logic identification
- reaction classes and fault hierarchy management
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) strategy mapping
- Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) strategy mapping
- Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) strategy mapping
- emissions modification logic
- torque supervision validation
- building structured commercial solution files in WinOLS
By the end of day one, you will understand:
- how to manually locate and modify DTC logic in Bosch and Delphi heavy diesel ECUs
- how fault hierarchies and reaction classes are structured
- how EGR, DPF and SCR strategies are identified
- how to validate torque supervision limits
- how to build structured solution files for commercial applications
Day 2: Cummins 2350 and Volvo TRW 2.3
The second day covers Cummins and Volvo control systems.
You will look at diagnostic and fail-safe logic, aftertreatment strategies and torque intervention systems used in heavy-duty applications.
You will learn about:
- Cummins 2350 and Volvo TRW 2.3 control units
- heavy-duty diagnostic and fail-safe logic
- SCR and aftertreatment control strategies
- torque intervention handling and override control
- off-road emissions calibration workflows
- file validation and stability checking
- solution file setup
By the end of day two, you will understand:
- how diagnostic and fail-safe routines work within Cummins and Volvo control systems
- how aftertreatment strategies interact with torque intervention logic
- how to follow an off-road emissions calibration workflow
- how to carry out system stability and checksum checks
- how to organise commercial solution projects for heavy equipment
Day 3: Bosch MCM2.1 / ACM2.1 and Caterpillar ADEM 5
The final day focuses on multi-ECU systems and Caterpillar control systems.
You will learn how interconnected control units communicate and how engine management and aftertreatment strategies can be handled across multiple modules.
You will learn about:
- Bosch MCM2.1 / ACM2.1 dual-ECU architectures
- Caterpillar ADEM 5 controllers
- dual-ECU communication
- synchronised emissions control
- manual DTC identification across master and slave modules
- EGR, DPF and SCR mapping across interconnected units
- WinOLS project organisation
- professional file structuring
- file export workflows
By the end of day three, you will understand:
- how MCM2.1 and ACM2.1 systems coordinate engine management and aftertreatment
- how DTCs and emissions strategies are handled across dual control units
- how Caterpillar ADEM 5 map structures are handled in WinOLS
- how to structure and document commercial solution files
- how to manage projects involving complex multi-ECU applications
What you will take away
After three days of training, you will have developed your understanding of:
- heavy truck ECU calibration
- tractor and agricultural equipment ECU calibration
- construction and heavy equipment applications
- WinOLS project structures for commercial applications
- DAMOS and A2L data
- torque and fuel calibration for heavy-duty applications
- diagnostic and calibration data
- file validation and checksum processes
- commercial solution file organisation
You will also develop your ability to work with the ECU platforms covered during the course and apply a more structured approach to your heavy commercial calibration projects.
Who this course is for
This course is aimed at people who already have practical WinOLS experience and want to develop their skills in heavy commercial diesel applications.
It is suitable for:
- tuners expanding into heavy truck tuning
- tuners working with tractors and agricultural equipment
- calibration specialists working with commercial diesel engines
- fleet calibrators
- heavy machinery technicians
- ECU file developers creating custom software for commercial diesel engines
This is not an introductory WinOLS course.
You should already have practical experience using WinOLS and an understanding of diesel ECU calibration.
Is this course right for you?
Before booking, consider whether you:
