Learn to develop your own diesel and gasoline ECU tuning files using Magicmotorsport StageX. Across five practical days, work with automatically identified calibration maps, understand the engine management strategies behind them and develop your own performance tuning solutions under the guidance of professional VIEZU Technical Academy trainers.

From your first calibration changes through to complete tuning projects, this course combines hands-on software training with the technical understanding needed to make informed calibration decisions. You’ll also explore StageX’s additional capabilities, including DTC management, AI Solutions and automated calibration functions.
No previous StageX experience is required. A basic understanding of engine operation, fuel injection and turbocharging is beneficial.

What you will learn

Learn how to use StageX’s automatic map recognition and generated mappacks to begin developing diesel and gasoline tuning files without first having to identify every calibration map manually.

Through practical ECU-file exercises, you will develop performance calibrations, understand the relationships between key engine management functions, identify additional maps from raw ECU data and explore StageX’s integrated solutions for supported vehicle functions and parameters.

Day-by-day course programme

Day 1: StageX fundamentals and practical diesel tuning

  • Set up and navigate StageX, import ECU files and become familiar with the software’s calibration editing functions.
  • Explore automatic map recognition and generated mappacks, understanding how StageX identifies and organises calibration data.
  • Examine fundamental diesel tuning maps, including driver wish, torque limiters, injection quantity and turbocharger boost control.
  • Understand map axes, units, conversion factors and the relationships between important diesel calibration functions.
  • Begin making supervised Stage 1 diesel tuning modifications using StageX’s identified maps.

Day 2: Diesel calibration strategies and map development

  • Investigate diesel injection strategies, including rail pressure, injection duration and injection timing.
  • Explore lambda, smoke limitation, air mass and the relationship between fuel delivery and boost pressure.
  • Develop a practical diesel Stage 1 calibration, making coordinated adjustments across related maps.
  • Learn how to investigate raw ECU data within StageX, identify additional calibration maps and create tables not included in the automatically generated mappack.
  • Review calibration changes, engine operating limits and common tuning mistakes through practical file exercises.

Day 3: Diesel calibration development and introduction to gasoline

Morning โ€“ Diesel calibration and StageX additional functions

  • Review diesel calibration strategies, including considerations for higher-output applications.
  • Consolidate diesel tuning knowledge through a supervised practical calibration exercise.
  • Explore StageX DTC management, including locating and interpreting diagnostic trouble codes within supported ECU files and understanding appropriate applications and limitations of DTC modifications.
  • Introduce StageX AI Solutions and automated functions for supported vehicle features and parameters, including speed limiters, Start/Stop systems and other available functions.
  • Understand the importance of vehicle diagnosis, verifying automated modifications and assessing their suitability for the intended application.

Afternoon โ€“ Introduction to gasoline calibration
