Learn Professional WinOLS Workflows for diesel ECUs from Europe’s Leading Calibration Specialists
WinOLS is the software trusted by professional calibration engineers around the world – but learning to use it effectively requires far more than knowing where the maps are.
VIEZU Technologies and the VIEZU Technical Academy are holding in-person diesel ECU tuning training in Sydney, Australia.
The lead trainer is Simon White, Technical Director and Managing Director of VIEZU Technologies. This is practical, hands-on calibration training designed for working tuners.
This intensive course covers intermediate to advanced diesel calibration techniques. It builds on your existing knowledge of WinOLS to increase your confidence and skill in diesel ECU tuning.
Group sizes are kept small to allow tailored instruction. You can contact Simon White before the course to request specific engines or ECU types to cover during practical sessions.
Your Learning Journey
Day One – Diesel ECU Structures, Mappacks & Data Management
You’ll cover:
- Diesel ECU logic and structure across common platforms (EDC16, EDC17, Siemens, Continental)
- Identifying map groups in WinOLS using 2D and 3D patterns
- Building, editing, and adapting mappacks
- Importing data from previous calibrations and setting up project structures
By the end of day one, you’ll know:
- How diesel ECUs calculate torque, fuel mass, injection timing, and boost pressure
- How to locate core diesel tuning maps using pattern recognition
- How to structure clean, organized WinOLS project files
Day Two – Calibration Strategies: Stock & Upgraded Hardware
You’ll cover:
- Torque limiters, smoke maps (lambda), injection duration, and fuel rail pressure
- Boost pressure control and variable-geometry turbo (VGT) calibration
- Calibrating for upgraded hardware, including larger turbos and injectors
- Drivability, smoke control, and thermal safety limits
By the end of day two, you’ll know:
- How to write safe Stage 1 calibrations for standard vehicles
- How to calculate fuel and air requirements for upgraded hardware
- How to modify torque limiters without disabling ECU safety functions
- How to maintain OEM reliability and drivability under load
Day Three – Log Analysis, Dyno Verification & Workflows
You’ll cover:
- Analyzing data logs and dynamometer test results
- Identifying and fixing calibration errors
- Pre-tune vehicle health checks and diagnostic steps
- Project documentation, version control, and file exports
By the end of day three you’ll know:
- How to use log data to refine map calibrations
- How to troubleshoot common diesel tuning faults
- How to perform pre-tuning safety checks on client vehicles
- How to finalize, document, and export files ready for ECU writing
What You’ll Take Away
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
- Navigate and modify diesel ECU files confidently using EVC WinOLS
- Build custom mappacks and import external calibration data
- Develop calibrations for vehicles with standard or modified hardware
- Create safe torque, boost, and fuel strategies that preserve drivability
- Refine ECU maps using data logs and dyno results
Who is this course for?
This course is ideal for:
- Professional tuners using WinOLS who want to advance their diesel tuning skills
- File developers looking to expand into commercial diesel file writing
- Business owners wanting to offer higher-level, custom diesel calibration services
What you’ll need
Please bring a laptop with a genuine, fully licensed and up-to-date installation of EVC WinOLS.
The practical exercises require the full version of the software, as the demonstration version does not include the functionality needed during training.
